This review and many others can be found on my blog - Feed Your Fiction Addiction Racing Hearts is a great start to a series of novellas that feature romance and race car driving. Jesse is one of those characters who is just instantly likable. Jesse and Brooke are a bit of an unlikely pair. Their fathers were friends turned arch-rivals, and they had some very bad blood between them at some point in the past. Because of this, nobody is really behind Brooke and Jesse as a couple. To make things more complicated, these two may end up being competitors in a race that Jesse needs to win for his family.
The best thing about this novella was the multitude of family secrets that start to get revealed as the book progresses. Slight lack of connection to the romance. In this type of series, you see more of that development as the series go on, I think. I have to kind of reserve judgement on this until I read more of the series. This seems like a great start to the story — lots of mysteries are presented, and suspense is built.

Jesse is an amazing guy - but not perfect. He screws up, but he really doesn't mean to and he tries to make it better.

Brook is a bit full of herself at times, and I dislike that she expects Jesse to lie for her, but that's what happens in life sometimes. I really enjoyed the racing aspect - and I'm not a racing fan! Laura Lascarso was able to bring the art of making a race car - well, raceable that's not a word according to spell check - she brought it to life in a way that my totally car-illiterate mind could see. This isn't a cliffhanger, but to see the full romance you do need to read book two.

While it was okay I am definitely not going to read the next book. Jesse and Brooke are two teens who are involved in the car racing life. Jesse needs to win a local race because his father is deceased and his mother needs the prize money. Their attraction was sweet and there was a lot of tension because of the feud. Mar 22, Crystal rated it really liked it. I'm not at all familiar with racing, but Lascarso clearly knows her way around that arena. All the characters are clearly drawn, realistic, and the two romantic leads have plenty of conflict to keep things interesting.
