There is a separate and priority queue inside behind a blue gate. Ask the tour guides where you return your audio guide for directions. Just remember not to exit. We lined up inside between 4: The main doors then opened from the outside and those folks were seated in the main part of the church. Still excellent seats to hear the choir but the key is to sit with the Choir. The Choir is World-renowned and they are so good, we got goosebumps while they sang. The Evensong service was great and one of the highlights of our London visit.
You must see it and Westminister Abbey - that is why I rate it as the 1 site in London - enjoy! Took my mum and my daughter here for a treat,children under 11 get in free and over 60s get a slight discount. Was quite surprised that there were no queues on the day we went I have passed on many occasions and the queues are usually massive! What can I say-I was amazed at how beautiful it was inside-looks even better than when you see it on t. Audio tour comes as part of your ticket price,I just walked around in awe,all that history under one roof! I was really taken by Queen Elizabeth I and Mary,Queen of Scots tombs,also seeing the tomb of the unknown warrior was quite moving.

I just stood there thinking about all the weddings,burials,coronations etc.. I am actually considering buying an annual pass as i would love to go again. For anyone who enjoys watching events like the State Opening of Parliament or Prime Minister's Questions on TV, seeing the inside of the Palace of Westminster in person is a must if you get the chance.
I was quite impressed with the level of access that our tour was given, particularly that we were allowed onto the floors of both the Lords and the Commons. Walking through the Lords, we came just a few feet away from the throne the Queen uses when delivering the Queen's Speech and stood in the back where MPs would stand to hear it. Other spaces in the Palace, such as the Royal Robing Room, Westminster Hall are also impressive to see, along with many pieces of artwork. It was well worth the fee for admission. You can save yourself some time on the day of the tour by booking tickets online ahead of time.
I was almost happy when I saw the sign saying photo taking inside was not allowed, because there is just too much to see, and my own photos could not do justice to the grandeur that is Westminster Abbey.

The audio tour was very informative, and we stayed for Choral Evensong, well worth the extra time. Oh, and it's not advertised, but if you're clergy, you can get in on a free pass! I mentioned it just as a joke when we were buying our tickets, and they said if I was clergy, I could get in free. Get there as early in the morning you possibly can to get in line. It is evrything you studied in school come to life, no pun intended. I stood with my mouth open more than not, just not believing I was here. The spectacle for me was the light flooding in through the great stained glass windows.

The Choristers who are leaving, as those who are staying, and our adult musicians, are animated by that divine spark. We pray for them that it will always be so. Ned, Luca, Xavier, Orlando and George, your contribution to the worship here at the Abbey has helped innumerable people gain a glimpse of heaven and share in the worship of heaven. You finish your service as a Chorister with our thanks and our blessing. You will remain part of the Abbey and the Abbey will always be part of you. Life is full of moments like this, partings and changes, moments of transition.
But they all lead us towards that decisive moment when we shall leave this earthly life and find ourselves transported to heaven. That day will come, one day.
Our whole life is to be a preparation for the journey to heaven and is punctuated by those glad and glorious moments when we have here on earth a foretaste of heaven. Be sure not to lose for yourselves what you have given to others. Stay close to almighty God, who loves you, and he will bring you to himself. But we see only part of the reality around us. Bring us, O Lord God, at our last awakening into the house and gate of heaven, to enter into that gate and dwell in that house, where there shall be no darkness nor dazzling, but one equal light; no noise nor silence, but one equal music; no fears nor hopes, but one equal possession; no ends nor beginnings, but one equal eternity; in the habitations of thy glory and dominion, world without end.
