Nov 04, Ray rated it liked it. I enjoyed reading this book from a spiritual point of view. Cornelius stands firm on the principles of marriage and his style of writing is very simple. Sort of like he is "talking" with his reader. You have to track with him and just let the conversation carry you: This brother plainly spells out what it takes to truly be a husband led by God. Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. I bought this book because I love the Lindsey family. I follow them on instagram and I have all of Heather's books. This was the first time I bought one of Cornelius' books, and I have to say I am disappointed. He and Heather are very transparent in their books, which is awesome.

He did have some good points and food for thought throughout the book, and he made sure to put a ton of biblical references. I really struggled to get through this book. The positives that I listed above kept me going until the end, but overall I felt Cornelius jumped from topic to topic and I wasn't sure when a subject was coming and going. This book was also filled with a ton of his "opinions" which come off very cynical and negative at times. Honestly, at some points I felt like he was being a serious know-it-all. Like he's "figured it all out" and he's trying to tell us we better do it his way.

While I was reading I kept thinking, "I'm so glad you guys worked that out, but dude, you've only been married 4 years maybe less than that when the book was written. There was a lot of "this thing is happening in YOUR marriage because YOU are doing this" when that may not be the case in everyone's situation. And the typos were crazy- although if he edited this book himself I can see how a person can miss a few things.

Maybe his book will resonate more with men.

I'll stick to reading Heather's books for now. Cornelius writes in a style that makes you feel like you're at coffee with a good friend who is simply sharing his expreiences, and how God moved and taught him throughout his life. His accounts were encouraging and gave me hope that my marriage will continue to blossom into the amazing thing God made it to be- even though it's hard sometimes to seethrough whatever mess you may have in your relationship married or courting. Can't wait for the next book!

I'm Married. Now, What?

One person found this helpful. I have read all their books. His other book as well as the one his wife wrote. I can say I really love this one by far. I enjoyed the others too, but this one was a really deep, honest, in depth look on the good and bad of marriage and their story.

Great read with a great Godly perspective. If you are looking to grow and become more selfless in your marriage, this is the book for you. The book is not some fly-by-night advice, it is scripture based guidelines to having a marriage that glorifies God. I read this book in less than 24 hours. It's a thought provoking read and it'll challenge you in all aspects of life. This book is FULL of jewels! It's biblically rooted and an easy read. Read it in 3 days.
