Having first "met" the author by means of Twitter it was fascinating to read this book about the chain of events that follow when one of a group of five close twitter friends goes missing. The group of friends have never met in the flesh but that does not stop them from coming to the aid of the Tweep who may be in danger. This will ring bells if you use and connect through twitter a lot. I know from experience that you can in fact form friendships with people you never meet, and although you know something about other people's lives, there are always hidden areas. This is certainly the case here, and the book picked me up and carried me along from start to finish. The characters were engaging in completely different ways, even the brusque and seemingly shut down part-time computer hacker a female which is a nice touch and depicted as completely against any stereotype which is wonderful becomes more likeable the more you find out about her.

There is danger and adventure in the narrative, but the author wisely does not make this into a high action, dramatic and bloody thriller. Rather the tone is, for the most part, kept light but never frivolous, a delicate balancing act to play but one which is successful. Again I found myself carried along by this book, and had reached the end before I even knew it! Definitely a must read for anyone who likes good old fashioned but current day relevant adventure, and who has ever navigated the waters of online social networking!

Jan 20, Melissa rated it it was amazing. Great fun, five people that had become dear friends are drawn into an adventure when one of their group disappears. They meet on the phone, then in person, and are chased by good guys and bad guys. Much laughter and a closer friendships develps. A must read if you have developed good friends on twitter, or even if you aren't on twitter and wonder what the hype is about. Jun 15, Alana Woods rated it really liked it.

With me her hopes were realised. The language and pace suit the plot which develops seamlessly. When Frank disappears for several days and leaves hints that all may not be well the others physically meet for the first time with the intention of tracking him down. This is a story of friendship with allusions to the Three Musketeers: At story end the friendship is well and truly cemented. Which is good, because the author presages sequels. Jul 12, Linda Runnebaum rated it really liked it. Loved this book by Kathy Hall. I felt like I was right there with the 5 tweeps in their great adventure.

Quite disappointing as I really do think this has the makings of a unique, fantastic book. Maggie gets home from a bad day at work, turns on her twitter, the place for fun 24 hours, and notices that it has been over two days since Frank has posted anything.

He is one of the four tweeps that she has bonded with and formed a deep friendship with in with under charters at a time. Frank is a investigator blogger that digs as deep if not deeper than most investigative reporters. It was his blog that brought five of them together. Eddy is a computer genius, an IT consultant, she loves hacking into high security networks for the fun of it.

Dwayne is a pro golfer from Florida. Then there is Tex, he looks awful young, but the cowboy image really gets Maggie's motor running. Maggie forwards am email to Eddy that Frank had sent her and told her to send to Eddy if he was off line for more than two days, with a note to call her. And so begins The Great Twitter Adventure. Eddy conferences Dwayne and Tex in on the call.

They find in person the same solid friendship that they had in cyber space, and maybe Maggie figures out 34 isn't to old for Arizionian Tex.
