This cross was identified with a Sun god eight centuries before Christ and long before it was called the Maltese Cross by the Knights of Malta. Pine cones symbolize the worship of the solar god Osiris. Pine cones are associated with spiritual enlightenment by ancient Babylonians, Egyptians and Greeks. They represent the mysterious link between the physical and the spiritual worlds, which can be found in the human brain, in the pineal gland. The pine cone staff is a symbol of the solar god Osiris and originated in Egypt where he was their messiah who died for his people and whose Mother, Isis, was worshiped as the Virgin Mother.
At the Old St. Revelation 13 says that Satan the dragon gives authority to the antichrist beast. Who is able to make war with him? Leaders of a Christian Church should not have anything to do with the symbols of pagan gods. The skull cap was worn by the sun priests of Egypt. The Roman Catholic Church calls it the Zucchetti. Satanists, Luciferians, astrologers and witches use it to invoke the power of demons. The six-sided star numerically equals 6 points, 6 triangles, 6-sided hexagon.
Ask yourself, why does the Catholic Church use the eight-pointed star of Ishtar? Shamash was the god of justice in Babylonia and Assyria, corresponding to Sumerian Utu. Ask yourself, why does the Pope wear the cross of Shamash the Sun god? Ask yourself, why do Popes use pine cones which symbolize the solar god Osiris? The Bible calls Satan the great dragon, who deceives the world. These two basic errors are: Roman Catholicism, although teaching that the Bible is the Word of God, adds the spurious apocryphal books to the Scriptures, and also elevates church tradition and the edicts of popes and councils the words of men , to the same or an even greater level of authority than the Word of God.
This amounts to the preaching of a false Gospel which places the Roman Catholic Church under God's curse. No amount of outward change should be permitted to obscure this fact. Roman Catholicism is nothing more than Babylonian paganism that has been whitewashed and made to appear Christian. They believe purgatory is a place where a person is purified of sins — even popes supposedly go there. The Bible says, when a person dies their eternal home is sealed — heaven or hell — there is no place in between like purgatory.

They believe in worshipping images of Mary, crucifix, saints, angels, etc. The Bibles speaks out against this. The Rosary did not come into general use until after the beginning of the thirteenth century, and not officially sanctioned until after the Protestant Reformation in the sixteenth century. The concept of praying to Mary, saints, and angels is not found in the Bible; on the contrary, we are directed to pray to our Father. The Bible speaks out very clearly against praying in vain repetitions as the heathens do.
In preparing for an expected earthquake in December, , in the Saint Louis area, parishioners at St. Agatha RC church turned to St. Agatha, "the patron saint of protection from the devastation of volcanoes, earthquakes, fire, and all kinds of violence. Agatha, and a closing benediction. A Roman Catholic ritual for selling a home: Put a statue of St. Joseph in a bottle or mason jar and bury it in the front yard head first , thereby guaranteeing a quick sale of the home.
After the sale, the seller is to dig up St. Take note in the following two prayers how Mary is magnified above Jesus Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Why is Mary being prayed to this way, is she God?
The Bible never directs us to pray to Mary. Our life, our sweetness and our hope! To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping, in this valley of tears. Turn, then, most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us; and after this our exile show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. Mary was the mother of Jesus, nothing more, and she is not the advocate as mentioned in the Bible. Many Roman Catholics believe that Peter was not married, the Bible says otherwise. They believe one way of attaining salvation from the punishment of one's sins is through indulgences, which can be purchased with money or through acts of penitence, acts of charity, or other pietistic means.
The idea of indulgences is based on good works meriting God's grace. Since they believe Christ's sacrifice was insufficient for the full payment of the penalty of sin, acts of piety and gifts to the Roman Catholic church may be used as partial payment for one's sins. The adequacy of an indulgence depends upon the merit attributed to it by the Roman Catholic church.
The Bible says we are saved by faith and nothing else! Once you die, it's judgment time! Jesus is the only mediator we need; we do not need the pope, priests, Mary or the saints. They believe they actually eat and drink the body and blood of Christ through a process called transubstantiation, whereby a priest prays over the wafer and wine and it is supernaturally turned into Christ's body. They will quote scripture John 6: Jesus was alive when the last supper took place and by interpreting this scripture literally instead of figuratively symbolizing his body and blood , it creates numerous problems.
Jesus referred to himself as a "door," "vine," and "rock" and these descriptions are recognized as figurative. The Bible says that Jesus was physically offered up once died for our sins , never to be repeated again. It is very important to note that Jesus told us to take the bread which symbolized his body and wine which symbolized his blood ; but he did so while he was here on earth and alive.
Roman Catholicism makes Jesus and his disciples into cannibals, because he and his disciples were eating his body that was alive. This means whoever sits on the papal chair in Rome is considered more authoritative than the Bible itself. The Holy Spirit's enlightenment is a safeguard against religious tyranny. They believe that Mary never had anymore children after giving birth to Jesus and that she remained a perpetual virgin until she died.
Why are we to believe that Joseph and Mary never had sexual intercourse? What husband and wife live and die together without consummating their marriage? These are speculative questions, but is is obvious Mary could not have remained a virgin if she had other children as recorded in the Bible. They believe that the church is founded upon the apostle Peter, that he was the first pope. Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. Peter's own inspired testimony as to his position and ministry is given in I Peter 5: He then identifies himself in II Peter 1: The pope needs to remember this when men are bowing to him and kissing his hand like he is worthy of worship.
Furthermore, history confirms the fact that there were no popes in the early church, not even in the Roman Catholic church during the first centuries of its existence. They believe the pope is the Holy Father, a title only given to God.
The pope is a man who takes upon himself honor which belongs to no human being. Even the very name by which he allows himself to be called Holy Father is highly presumptuous and blasphemous. Mary, according to the Roman Catholics has become the queen of heaven. When the queen of heaven is referred to in the Bible, she is spoken of negatively. They believe that Mary is a co-redeemer with Jesus. Nowhere in the Bible does it state that Mary is a co-redeemer. The issue of infant baptism is not mentioned in the Bible, nor does it mention anything about babies and salvation.
Many of these polyptici were ledgers recording the operating expenses of the church and the assets , the patrimonia. A central papal administration, the notarii , under a chief, the primicerius notariorum , kept the ledgers and issued brevia patrimonii , or lists of property for which each rector was responsible. Gregory began by aggressively requiring his churchmen to seek out and relieve needy persons and reprimanded them if they did not.
In a letter to a subordinate in Sicily he wrote: And if you knew of people in poverty, you should have pointed them out I desire that you give the woman, Pateria, forty solidi for the children's shoes and forty bushels of grain He understood that expenses must be matched by income. To pay for his increased expenses he liquidated the investment property and paid the expenses in cash according to a budget recorded in the polyptici.
The churchmen were paid four times a year and also personally given a golden coin for their trouble. Money, however, was no substitute for food in a city that was on the brink of famine. Even the wealthy were going hungry in their villas. It produced goods of all kinds, which were sold, but Gregory intervened and had the goods shipped to Rome for distribution in the diaconia. He gave orders to step up production, set quotas and put an administrative structure in place to carry it out. At the bottom was the rusticus who produced the goods.
Some rustici were or owned slaves. He turned over part of his produce to a conductor from whom he leased the land. The latter reported to an actionarius , the latter to a defensor and the latter to a rector. Grain, wine, cheese, meat, fish and oil began to arrive at Rome in large quantities, where it was given away for nothing as alms. Distributions to qualified persons were monthly. However, a certain proportion of the population lived in the streets or were too ill or infirm to pick up their monthly food supply.
To them Gregory sent out a small army of charitable persons, mainly monks, every morning with prepared food. It is said that he would not dine until the indigent were fed. When he did dine he shared the family table, which he had saved and which still exists , with 12 indigent guests. To the needy living in wealthy homes he sent meals he had cooked with his own hands as gifts to spare them the indignity of receiving charity.
Hearing of the death of an indigent in a back room he was depressed for days, entertaining for a time the conceit that he had failed in his duty and was a murderer. These and other good deeds and charitable frame of mind completely won the hearts and minds of the Roman people. They now looked to the papacy for government, ignoring the rump state at Constantinople, which had only disrespect for Gregory, [ citation needed ] calling him a fool for his pacifist dealings with the Lombards.
The office of urban prefect went without candidates. From the time of Gregory the Great to the rise of Italian nationalism the papacy was most influential presence in Italy. John the Deacon wrote that Pope Gregory I made a general revision of the liturgy of the Pre-Tridentine Mass , "removing many things, changing a few, adding some".
The pre-Gregorian position is evident in the Ambrosian Rite. Gregory added material to the Hanc Igitur of the Roman Canon and established the nine Kyries a vestigial remnant of the litany which was originally at that place at the beginning of Mass. He also reduced the role of deacons in the Roman Liturgy. Sacramentaries directly influenced by Gregorian reforms are referred to as Sacrementaria Gregoriana.
Roman and other Western liturgies since this era have a number of prayers that change to reflect the feast or liturgical season; these variations are visible in the collects and prefaces as well as in the Roman Canon itself. In the Eastern Orthodox Church and Eastern Catholic Churches , Gregory is credited as the primary influence in constructing the more penitential Divine Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts , a fully separate form of the Divine Liturgy in the Byzantine Rite adapted to the needs of the season of Great Lent.
The Syriac Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts continues to be used in the Malankara Rite , a variant of the West Syrian Rite historically practiced in the Malankara Church of India , and now practiced by the several churches that descended from it and at some occasions in the Assyrian Church of the East. The mainstream form of Western plainchant , standardized in the late 9th century, [56] was attributed to Pope Gregory I and so took the name of Gregorian chant.
The earliest such attribution is in John the Deacon's biography of Gregory, almost three centuries after the pope's death, and the chant that bears his name "is the result of the fusion of Roman and Frankish elements which took place in the Franco-German empire under Pepin , Charlemagne and their successors". Gregory is commonly credited with founding the medieval papacy and so many attribute the beginning of medieval spirituality to him. Some of his writings are:.
Gregory wrote over letters in the last 13 years of his life — that give us an accurate picture of his work. The development of his mind and personality remains purely speculative in nature. Opinions of the writings of Gregory vary.
Cult of Roman Catholicism
In art Gregory is usually shown in full pontifical robes with the tiara and double cross , despite his actual habit of dress. Earlier depictions are more likely to show a monastic tonsure and plainer dress. Orthodox icons traditionally show St. Gregory vested as a bishop holding a Gospel Book and blessing with his right hand.
It is recorded that he permitted his depiction with a square halo , then used for the living. As, however, the pope remained silent for long periods at a time, the servant made a hole in the curtain and, looking through, beheld a dove seated upon Gregory's head with its beak between his lips. When the dove withdrew its beak the pope spoke and the secretary took down his words; but when he became silent the servant again applied his eye to the hole and saw the dove had replaced its beak between his lips.
Ribera's oil painting of Saint Gregory the Great c. In this picture also Gregory has his monastic back on the world, which the real Gregory, despite his reclusive intent, was seldom allowed to have. This scene is shown as a version of the traditional Evangelist portrait where the Evangelists' symbols are also sometimes shown dictating from the tenth century onwards.
An early example is the dedication miniature from an eleventh-century manuscript of Saint Gregory's Moralia in Job. In the upper left the author is seen writing the text under divine inspiration. Usually the dove is shown whispering in Gregory's ear for a clearer composition. The late medieval subject of the Mass of St Gregory shows a version of a 7th-century story that was elaborated in later hagiography.
Gregory is shown saying Mass when Christ as the Man of Sorrows appears on the altar. The subject was most common in the 15th and 16th centuries, and reflected growing emphasis on the Real Presence , and after the Protestant Reformation was an assertion of the doctrine against Protestant theology.
The relics of Saint Gregory are enshrined in St. Peter's Basilica in Rome.

In Britain, appreciation for Gregory remained strong even after his death, with him being called Gregorius noster "our Gregory" by the British. The first vita of Gregory written in Italy was not produced until John the Deacon in the 9th century. The namesake church of San Gregorio al Celio largely rebuilt from the original edifices during the 17th and 18th centuries remembers his work. One of the three oratories annexed, the oratory of Saint Silvia, is said to lie over the tomb of Gregory's mother.
In England, Gregory, along with Augustine of Canterbury , is revered as the apostle of the land and the source of the nation's conversion. Italian composer Ottorino Respighi composed a piece named St. Before that, it assigned his feast day to 12 March, the day of his death in For this reason, Saint Gregory's feast day was moved to 3 September, the day of his episcopal consecration in , [96] as part of the liturgical reforms of Pope Paul VI.
Other churches also honour Saint Gregory: The feast day of Saint Gregory also serves as a commemorative day for the former pupils of Downside School , called Old Gregorians. Traditionally, OG ties are worn by all of the society's members on this day. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. For other uses, see Saint Gregory disambiguation.
