He became an anarcho-syndicalist, then a communist, and played a leading role in the French Communist Party and in the national trade union movement both before and after World War II — His parents were Jean and Marie-Silvine Monmousseau. In his autobiography he describes himself as coming from a family of serfs attached to the Duke of Luynes. His grandfather was a Republican during the Second French Empire and his father was a radical after the Paris Commune, then a socialist against the decay of radicalism, and then a communist against the decay of socialism.
After leaving school he apprenticed with a carpenter in Luynes, then moved to Tours where he worked as a carpenter.

Ignace Schott de Dabo July 28, — March 3, generally known by the name Ignace Schott, he was a French born artist, etcher and teacher. He worked mostly as a mural painter but also in stained glass and many of his creations have survived to this day.
Much of his work from the mid 19th century was created in and around Saverne, France not far from Dabo, but the last thirteen years of his life and career Ignace worked in the Detroit, Michigan area of the United States. Life None of his personal records are known to exist, thus little of Ignace's early life or artistic training is more than conjecture.
